If you want organize the excursion to the big city, you have to have very good plan respect the problems of the seniors. Some of them get tired very quickly, others need rest time to time. In all of the cities is problem with a parking, especially for big buses. Many touristic areas are closed for the cars, too. So, the plan of the excursion should included the breaks for rest, drink and eat something.
Before the planning the organizer should check where are the good places for breaks (toilets, benches, coffee bars etc.).
Fundacja Bądź Aktywny organized the excursion to Warsaw in June 2024. The main goal was the visit in Polish Parliament, but we would like to add more attractions. We choose the places are not far each others and plan a lunch before the visit in the Parliament, because we started quite early (at 7.30 a.m.) and our time for the visit was 15.30. If you plan the excursion you should respect the work time of the bus driver.
Warsaw has a lot of touristic attraction but we choose just only 3 which are not so far each others. It was: the gardens on the roof of University Library, the footbridge over the Vistula River and National Museum. The lunch we booked in the restaurant Kameralna. It’s quite famous place, because in the past many Polish actors and artists visit it very often. The all walking road is about 4 km, but the participants were informed that in all the places they can rest and go to the toilet.
The costs of the excursion are very important for the seniors because usually they don’t have so much money, so we choose the places which they can visit for free. The gardens and footbridge are always for free and National Museum was free on Tuesdays so we choose the day for the trip.
The costs of the excursion were: bus and lunch.
Before the excursion we asked the member of Polish Parliament about the meeting with our group, so the participants could ask about the region, actual problems of our country, especially about health service and seniors’ situation. All the participants were informed about the meeting, so they can prepare the questions.
During the trip from Piotrków Trybunalski, the organizer tell about all the places which were in the plan of the excursion, inform about places where are toilets, places to buy or drink something.
In every places (apart from Parliament) the participants have free time – some of them use it to rest, others walk and watch more precisely.
We conducted the recruitment process in 3 NGO-s. This way we had “full bus” (less costs of the transport per participants). Apart from it, we continue the good cooperation between NGO-s and it let all the organizations have better offer for the seniors and others adults.
